MAREA CHINEI DE SUD - PORTAVION - USS CARL VINSON - TENSIUNI - COREEA DE NORD
Handout photo - SOUTH CHINA SEA (April 12, 2017) An F/A-18E Super Hornet from the Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 137 “Kestrels” takes off from the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) flight deck. Allegedly ordered to hurry to North Korea as a show of force to deter despot Kim Jong-un from testing a nuclear weapon, the U.S. Navy Third Fleet’s Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group instead ended up near Australia last week, nearly 4,900 miles away from where it was officially supposed to be. The Navy confirmed Tuesday that it didn’t send one of its aircraft carriers directly toward North Korea amid growing tensions with Pyongyang, despite representations by President Donald Trump and his top defense advisers that it was on its way.
