MAREA CHINEI DE SUD - PORTAVION - USS CARL VINSON - TENSIUNI - COREEA DE NORD

Handout photo - INDIAN OCEAN (April 14, 2017) The aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), front, leads the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112 and the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain (CG 57). Allegedly ordered to hurry to North Korea as a show of force to deter despot Kim Jong-un from testing a nuclear weapon, the U.S. Navy Third Fleet’s Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group instead ended up near Australia last week, nearly 4,900 miles away from where it was officially supposed to be. The Navy confirmed Tuesday that it didn’t send one of its aircraft carriers directly toward North Korea amid growing tensions with Pyongyang, despite representations by President Donald Trump and his top defense advisers that it was on its way.
