Portuguese left block leader Francisco Louca demonstrate in central Lisbon 17 February 2005. Portugal-s main opposition Socialists have widened their lead over the ruling centre-right Social Democrats ahead of 20 February-s snap election but will fall short of obtaining an outright majority in parliament, according to a new poll. The party, led since September by telegenic former environment minister Jose Socrates, would capture 39 percent of the vote if an election were held now, the poll published Thursday showed.
