LEBANON-POLITICS
Lebanese opposition and Druze leader Walid Jumblatt is pictured in his mansion in Mukhtara in the Lebanese Chouf mountains, where he was hold up, citing security reasons, 01 March 2005, one day after the resignation of the pro-Syrian government led by Omar Karameh. Jumblatt said Lebanon will refuse to "remain hostage" to Syria, which first sent its troops into its smaller neighbour a year into the 1975-1990 civil war and still has about 14,000 men on the ground.
