(FILES) A picture dated 12 May 2004 shows Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus. Assad, who is facing intense pressure from both friend and foe to leave Lebanon, is expected to announce 05 March 2005 a redeployment of troops but stop short of a full withdrawal demanded by the world community. A Lebanese cabinet minister said Assad would announce during a parliamentary address a partial pullback of troops in Lebanon towards the border with Syria but wanted certain "guarantees" before a complete pullout.
