ITALY-IRAQ-HOSTAGE-CALIPARI
Italian President Carlo Azrglio Ciampi touches the coffin of Italian intelligence officer Nicola Calipari at Rome-s Ciampino airport late 05 March 2005. The officer was killed as he tried to protect freed Italian hostage Giuliana Sgrena from US gunfire as their car neared a checkpoint. Two other Italian security officers were wounded in the incident.
