MOLDOVA-ELECTIONS
Moldovan citizens from the country-s breakaway Transdnister region cast their ballots at a polling station in Varnita, 70 km east of Chisinau, 06 March 2005. Hundreds of voters queued to vote at Varnita as the village is divided by the border with self-proclaimed Transdniestr republic. Moldova voted for a new parliament with the election likely to place the impoverished nation firmly on a pro-European path, the third ex-Soviet republic to turn away from Moscow-s influence in little over a year.
