AFP - Leon, a two-year-old male Snow Leopard, is inspected by veterinarian staff during a health check at Sydney's Taronga Zoo, 31 July 2003. Leon joins female "Samarra", as the zoo's new Snow Leopard breeding pair after both arrived from Europe five weeks ago, providing a unique opportunity to protect the threatened species, of which as few as 4,500 animals still remain in the wild across Central Asia.
