Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon leaves after attending a parliamentary session at the Knesset in Jerusalem, 30 March 2005. The Israeli government withdrew today a request for parliament to endorse the nomination of three new cabinet ministers after a majority of MPs denounced the appointments as scandalous. Sharon had nominated three new ministers to reward loyalists who passed the 2005 budget and rejected a referendum bill on his plan to withdraw from the occupied Gaza, thus averting a government crisis.
