Wearing a white shroud and holding swords, Shiite Muslim pilgrims take part in self flagellation during lamentation ceremonies in the southern city of Karbala marking the Arbaeen, 100 kms from Baghdad, 31 March 2005. Thousands of pilgrims have gathered in Karbala for the Arbaeen, which falls today.
