People crowd the port to escape from Nias island after losing they their homes and and fears of aftershocks and tsunamis in Gunung Sitoli, on Nias island, 04 April 2005, one week after a strong deadly 8.7 magnitude earthquake hit the area leaving an estimated 1,300 people dead. While visiting Australia 04 April, Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono announced that 11 Australian soldiers caught in a deadly helicopter crash while providing aid to earthquake stricken Indonesian villagers would receive "medals of honor" from his government.
