RWANDA-GENOCIDE-FILM
People gather 04 April 2005 to watch the movie "Hotel Rwanda" at the Amahoro stadium in Kigali. Paul Rusesabagina, the real-life hero of the Oscar-nominated film "Hotel Rwanda" about the country-s 1994 genocide, missed the movie-s yesterday premiere in Kigali despite earlier plans to attend, organizers said. "Paul Rusesabagina will not be there for the screening," said publicist Philibert Rutagengwa, adding, however, that Rusesabagina-s wife and the film-s director Terry George would attend. Rusesabagina himself told AFP from his home in Belgium that he was "ill" and could not make it to Rwanda for the film-s premiere, an explanation echoed by Rwandan officials who said they had been told he had "health problems." He declined to comment on speculation that he was skipping the screening due to security fears after comments he made to the French daily Liberation last week in which he said genocide was still going on in Rwanda.
