Indian actor Om Puri (R) and Britain-s Deputy High Commissioner to India Ian Hughes pose with Puri-s medal after he was invested with an Honorary OBE (Order of the British Empire) at a ceremony at the British Council Auditorium in Bombay,18 April 2005. Puri was honoured for his services to the British Film Industry. He is the first Indian actor to be awarded an Honorary OBE and the first to be nominated in the best actor category for the BAFTA awards.
