Some of the 100,000 teachers striking around Australia, make their feelings known as they push for pay rises up to 30 percent, outside Parliament House in Sydney 17 September 2003. They are also demanding pay rises to attract graduates to the profession and avert what one union descibed as a "looming crisis" in education, with the OECD warning of a looming shortage of teachers in the developed world.
