Police and prosecutors show over 23,000 ecstasy tables seized before they burn them at police headquarter in Jakarta, 17 September 2003. Some of the ecstasy pills were found on a Dutch woman, Sibel Yalvac, 20, who was arrested by customs officials at Jakarta International Airport in July 2003. Indonesian courts have been increasingly handing out severe sentences, including death, for drug traffickers as the country is rapidly moving from being a mere transit point on international drug-smuggling routes to a market in its own right
