IRAQ-US-SADDAM
An Iraqi looks at a torn poster of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein pasted on a wall in the northern Iraqi city of Samarra with a graffiti that reads: "May God release you soon," 28 April 2005. Saddam celebrated his 68th birthday in US custody as Iraqi lawmakers approved prime minister-designate Ibrahim Jaafari-s partial cabinet line-up after weeks of stalemate that had threatened to plunge the country into a fresh political and security crisis. Saddam, marking his second birthday since he was captured in December 2003, faces charges of crimes against humanity for his regime-s campaign against the Kurds and the brutal suppression of a Shiite Muslim uprising, among others.
