SURFING-TAHITI-MCNAMARA-TRIAL
Liam McNamara from Hawaii rides a wave to finish runner up Tahiti Nui/VZ Trials, earning a wildcard into the main event, the Billabong Pro at Teahupoo, Tahiti, 28 April 2005. McNamara was a dominant force in the treacherous Teahupoo waves, but was unable to beat local Manoa Drollet in the finals. The Air Tahiti Nui/VZ Trials comprises of 40 international surfers and 40 Tahitians. The winner and the highest placed Tahitian in the Trials will earn wildcard slots into the Billabong Pro, the third stop on the ASP World Championship Tour (WCT) where they will have the chance to compete for the title against the Top 44 surfers in the world.
