Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian, accompanied by foreign minister Chen Tan-shan, waves 1 May, 2005 before departing for Marshall Islands with a stop in the US territory of Guam, as opposition leader Lien Chan is wrapping up an eight-day China visit climaxed with historic talks with Chinese President Hu Jintao 29 April, 2005. Chen said Beijng should approach elected Taiwan leader and the island- ruling party for negotiations.
