RWANDA-POLITICS-WOLFOWITZ
The President of the World Bank, Paul Wolfowitz, gives a press conference at Kanombe International Airport in Kigali, Rwanda 17 June 2004. Wolfowitz yesterday apologised on behalf of the international community for not having intervened to stop the 1994 Rwandan genocide, in which 800,000 people were slaughtered. Wolfowitz made the commments as he visited Rwanda-s main genocide memorial in the Kigali suburb of Gisozi, where the remains of some 250,000 genocide victims have been assembled and reburied.
