FRANCE-ITER-NUCLEAR-RESEARCH-MODEL
European commissioner for research, Polish Janez Potonik (2nd R), former French research minister Claudie Haignere (2nd row C), delegated minister for research FranA§ois Goulard (3rd R) and another former French research minister FranA§ois d-Aubert (L) listen to explanations on the model of the future ITER nuclear fusion plant, given by the director of the department for fusion research Michel Chatelier (R) 03 July 2005 in Cadarache. The International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) is a 10-billion-euro nuclear fusion reactor to be built in southern France that reportedly will produce no greenhouse gas emissions and low levels of radioactive waste. The six ITER partners, the European Union, the United States, Russia, Japan, South Korea and China, agreed on Cadarache after Japan withdrew its bid to host the 30-year project.
