MEXICO-EMILY-TOURISTS-SHELTER
Local and foreign tourists evacuated from their hotels arrive at their assigned shelter in the gym of the Casa de la Cultura of the Lasalle University, whilst hurricane Emily approaches 17 July, 2005 in the seaside resort of Cancun, southeastern Mexico. Hurricane Emily barreled past the Cayman Islands early Sunday on her way to landfall on Mexico-s Yucatan Peninsula, where tens of thousands were fleeing coastal areas and famed beach resorts. Forecasters said the eye of the "extremely dangerous" storm, packing winds near 240 kilometers (150 miles) per hour, would reach the peninsula late Sunday or early Monday. AFP PHOTO/Omar TORRES
