Lawyers Jacques Monier (1stR) and Alain Fouquet (R) wait, 27 July 2005 at the Angers courthouse, for the verdict expected today in the biggest ever paedophila trial in French legal history. Sixy Five men and women are accused of the rape and sexual abuse on children as young as a few months old. The nine-member jury, which has spent nine days secluded in a military college in the central town of Angers, was to start delivering its decisions around 1.30 p.m. (1130 GMT) Tuesday, court officials said. Prison terms of 20 or 30 years have been requested by the prosecution for the six principal defendants, accused of organising the network of abuse in a poor district of the town.
