CHINA-TIBET-RELIGION-PRAYER-FLAGS
Prayer flags flutter in the wind atop Kambala Pass, at 4794 meters above sea level, as clouds drift over the mountain top, 05 August 2005, on the road from Lhasa to Gyantse overlooking Yamdrok-Tso Lake. Prayer flags are strung up to purify the air and pacify the gods, and when flags flutter, prayers are thought to be released to heaven. The highly symbolic colours of red, green, yellow, blue and white represent fire, wood, earth, water and iron. AFP PHOTO/Frederic J. BROWN
