CHINA-TIBET-LAKE-YAK
A Tibetan herdsman walks his yak along Kambala Pass, at 4794 meters above sea level, 05 August 2005, on the old road from Lhasa to Gyantse overlooking Yamdrok-Tso Lake. Despite the size of yaks, the animal is sure-footed on steep and narrow mountain trails as with three times more red blood cells than the average cow, yaks thrive in the oxygen depleted high altitudes of the Tibetan plateau.
