RUSSIA-KURSK-ANNIVERSARY
A file photo dated 24 August 2004 shows an elderly Russian submariner huging a girl at the Vidiayevo naval base, before she boards the Russian hospital ship -Svir- as relatives of the -Kursk- crew aboard the Russian hospital ship -Svir- were brought close to the site in the Barents Sea, where the sailors died. On 12 August 2005 Russia will mark the fifth anniversary of the Kursk accident during which 118 crewmen perished in the icy Barents sea. The Kursk sank during naval exercises off northwestern Russia after an explosion in one of the submarine-s torpedo tubes. AFP PHOTO
