GERMANY-WYD-POPE-MEISNER
Pope Benedict XVI waves to pilgrims during his walk to Cologne-s Cathedral, Germany, accompanied by Cologne-s Archbishop Joachim Meisner, 18 August 2005, on the first of his groundbreaking four-day visit to his native Germany, his first visit abroad since his election as pope in April. More than 400,000 young Catholics from nearly 200 countries were set to welcome the new pope to the Catholic stronghold of Cologne for the World Youth Day celebration.
