Rescued refugees board a US Coast Guard helicopter in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina at the Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, 03 September, 2005. Those rescued were transported to Louis Armstrong Airport where they will depart for Houston. US President George W. Bush ordered the deployment of 7,000 additional US troops to help desperate survivors of Hurricane Katrina as he acknowledged the initial federal effort had fallen short.
