PHILIPPINES-MISS AFGHANISTAN-MISS EARTH 2003
Miss Afghanistan, Vida Samadzai dips her feet in the pool together with Miss Estonia, Kadi Tombak, (L), Miss Antigua Juany Gomez, (R), during the swimsuit parade of the the Miss Earth international beauty pageant in Manila 23 October 2003. Afghanistan's Supreme Court has condemned Samadzai for her display of her body which the high court declared as un-Islamic. Samadzai, 25, a US-based Afghan student is the first Afghan woman in 30 years to participate in an international beauty contest.
