MIDEAST-PALESTINIAN-ISRAEL-WALL
Palestinian villagers argue with Israeli soldiers next to an army bulldozer at the spot where part of Israel-s controversial separation wall is being built on the land of the norhern West Bank village of Salem, near Nablus, 08 September 2005. Defence Minister Shaul Mofaz said Sunday that Israel would accelerate construction of its controversial West Bank barrier to fend off an increased risk of Palestinian attacks. While Israel insists that the massive barrier is vital to prevent attacks on its soil by would-be Palestinian attackers, the Palestinians point to its route, which often juts into their land, as proof of an intent to pre-empt the borders of their promised future state.
