US-WEATHER-KATRINA-PATROLL
A US military unit crosses the flooded area of interstate 10 eastside New Orleans, Lousiana 08 September 2005. National Guard troops will not drag "refusenik" New Orleans residents out of their homes, but will help police ship forced evacuees out of the shattered city, a top officer said. Major General Ron Mason, who commands up to 25,000 National Guard troops in and around the stricken city moved to clarify growing confusion over whether troops would be used to evict recalcitrant survivors of Hurricane Katrina from their homes after the city-s mayor threatened to use force.
