NETHERLANDS-MELCHERS-KIDNAP
Undated police handout shows Claudia Melchers. Police said in a statement that Claudia Melchers, 37, had disappeared from an apartment in Amsterdam 12 September 2005. The alarm was raised by an acquaintance who was tied up by a number of armed men, who took Melchers with them. The police said they did not know what the motive was for the apparent kidnapping and appealed for information from the public. Dutch media reported that the woman was the daughter of multi-millionaire Hans Melchers, director of chemicals wholesaler Melchemie and one of the richest men in the country. AFP PHOTO/ANP
