(FILES) In this picture taken 20 August 2004, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh (R),Sonia Gandhi (L), head of India-s ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government and Congress Party President and Rahul Gandhi, Member of Parliament (MP) and son of Gandhi (R) sit during a ceremony on the 60th anniversary of the birthday of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at his cremation memorial site Bir Bhumi (Land of the Brave) in New Delhi. Gandhi, political heir to India-s charismatic Nehru-Gandhi dynasty, insisted that he is his own man in a rare and candid interview published 15 September 2005, Gandhi, widely touted as a future prime minister despite his inexperience, sought to explain just who he is. Rahul Gandhi was elected to his later father-s Amethi constituency in Uttar Pradesh state during the 2004 general election, but the media have highlighted a sketchy attendance record in parliament. Former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, who was assassinated in 1991, was catapaulted into the job on the murder of his mother Indira Gandhi in 1984. Rajiv-s widow was elected to Amethi in 1999 before leaving the seat to Rahul and moving to nearby Rae Bareli, another family constituency in the northern state. AFP PHOTO/RAVEENDRAN/FILES
