US-WEATHER-KATRINA-RESIDENTS
Fritz Harsdorff (L) and his wife Jo stand on the porch of their house in the Algiers neighborhood of New Orleans 18 September 2005. The Harsdorff were out the house for three weeks as evacuees in Houston and came back 18 September to start cleaning the residence after hurricane Katrina hit the city three weeks ago. Hurricane Katrina-s relief supremo urged New Orleans to hold back on plans to let tens of thousands of evacuees return home from 19 September, warning the storm-wrecked city remained unsafe. Vice Admiral Thad Allen said districts still lacked potable water and reliable power and there were high levels of the diarrhoea bacteria E. coli in the environment.
