Seamen of the pro-nationalist Union of Corsican Workers (STC) and CGT-s unionists of National Corsica Mediterranean Company (SNCM) rally to demand the release of four STC-s leaders arrested 28 September after hijacking a ship belonging to the troubled SNCM-s company, in front of MArseille-s court. The French island of Corsica was threatened with a total blockade Friday as a bitter dispute over privatisation of a state-owned ferry company led to the closure of its main seaports and strikes by airport staff.
