NKOREA-KIM-ANNIVERSARY-FILES
TO GO WITH STORY "NKOREA-ANNIVERSARY-SUCCESSION"
(FILES) This photo taken 19 August 1981 and released in 2000 shows North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il (L) sitting with his son, Jong-Nam (R). As North Korea-s all-powerful Workers Party marks its 60th birthday 10 October 2005, speculation is rife that its dictator Kim Jong-Il may anoint his successor by picking one of his three sons to preserve his dynasty. The Itar-Tass news agency, quoting a diplomatic source in Pyongyang, said that Kim-s three sons -- Jong-Nam, now 34, Jong-Chul, 24, and Jong-Woon, 22 -- "have more or less equal chances of being nominated."
