IRAQ-UN-FRANCE-OIL BOIDEVAIX
(FILES) A file photo taken 14 December 1993 in Baghdad shows French diplomat Serge Boidevaix smiling following the liberation of a French hostage in Iraq. Boidevaix, 77, a former secretary-general at the French foreign ministry, is one of five other people who was placed under judicial investigation by judge Philippe Courroye 08 September 2005 in connection with corruption related to Iraq-s oil-for-food program. The French foreign ministry distanced itself 12 October 2005 from two former senior diplomats, including Jean-Bernard Merimee, 68, French ambassador to the United Nations in New York, saying they were "subjects of legal action to do with their private activities carried out after their retirement."
