Divac, who was one of the first players from Europe to find success playing in the United States, has ended his 16-year National Basketball Association career it was reported 19 October, 2005. The 37-year-old giant centre will stay with the Los Angeles Lakers as a special assistant to general manager Mitch Kupchak, mainly as a European scout. Divac averaged 11.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.4 blocks in 1134 games. He finished his career on Tuesday as one of only three players in NBA history (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Hakeem Olajuwon) to amass 13,000 points, 9,000 rebounds, 3,000 assists and 1,500 blocked shots.
