ROMANIA-HEALTH-BIRD FLU
A carriage is desinfected at the exit of the village of Ceamurlia de Jos 29 October 2005. Some 140 chickens will be put in the courtyards of locals in Ceamurlia de Jos for observation. Romania has discovered another bird carrying the H5N1 strain of avian flu, potentially deadly to humans, as fears spread that the virus could spread to the vulnerable millions in Africa. Romania announced 28 October that the H5N1 strain had spread to the country-s northeast from the Danube delta region, after tests proved positive on a dead heron found a week ago near the border with Moldova.
