US-ANIMALS-ZOO-PANDA-NAME
In this photo released by the Zoological Society of San Diego and continuing with Chinese tradition, the San Diego Zoo waited until its giant panda cub reached 100 days old before bestowing a historic name 10 November, 2005. The cub is named â€oSu Linâ€? which means â€oa little bit of something very cuteâ€? in Chinese and is the name of the first giant panda cub brought to the United States in 1936. The Zoo asked the community to help name the panda through an online naming poll that received more than 70,000 votes. The cub is still too young to be on exhibit, but Thursday morning she spent a little time in her private sunroom relaxing while a crowd waited to hear her name at the San Diego Zoo’s Giant Panda Research Station.
