FINLAND-ELECTIONS


Finland -s three main presidential candidates including incumbent president Tarja Halonen of the Social Democratic Party,(L) Matti Vanhanen of the Centre Party and current Prime Minister of Finland with Sauli NiinistA¶ of the National Coalition Party (R) are interviewed by Jorma Ollila CEO of Nokia (out of camera range), 21 November 2005. The 2006 Finnish presidential election will take place in January 2006, with the aim of determining the holder of the office of President of Finland for the six-year term until 2012.The first round of voting will take place on the third Sunday in January - in this case 15 January. In case one candidate does not receive more than half of the votes in the first round, a second round will be called between the two candidates who received the most votes. The second round, if needed, will take place on 29 January. The newly elected president will formally enter office on 1 March. AFP PHOTO
