Former German chancellor Gerhard Schroeder is to work as an advisor to Ringier, company chairman Michael Ringier announced on 24 November 2005. Schroeder, 61, handed over the reins of power in Germany to Angela Merkel on 22 November and resigned as a lawmaker the following day.
