CORREX-CHILE-PINOCHET-BIRTHDAY
General Emilio Cheire, Commander in Chief of the Chilean Army, accompanied by his wife Maria Isabel Forestier, leave the residence of former Chilean dictator (1973-90), General (ret) Augusto Pinochet, after celebrating the latter-s 90th birthday, 25 November, 2005 in Santiago. Pinochet spent his birthday Friday under house arrest, after being charged over the killings of political opponents and secret bank accounts. The charges made by investigating judges on Wednesday and Thursday have sparked a new nationwide debate on the Pinochet junta that ruled the country from 1973 to 1990.
