US-IRAQ-SADDAM-AUCTION
This image received 05 December, 2005 from Manion-s International Auction House in Kansas City, KS, shows the epaulette from a dress uniform that purportedly belonged to deposed Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein that was auctioned on Manion-s website. The uniform, tagged by Manion-s as the "ultimate artifact" from the US-led invasion of Iraq, is olive green and bears the epaulettes denoting Saddam-s rank and other features specific to the ousted president. Manion-s spokesman John Conway told AFP that the auction house was confident the uniform was authentic. "We obtained it directly from the veteran who brought it back," Conway said. The auction ended 01 December and Manion-s said the uniform sold for more than $16,400 USD. A private collector from Washington state bought the uniform.
