INDIA-KASHMIR-QUAKE-SONIA
An earth-quake survivor sits with his mother as they wait for UPA Chairperson and President All India Congress committee, Sonia Gandhi at Sultan Daki, some 120 kms north west of Srinagar, 10 December 20005, the occassion of Gandhi-s 59th birthday. Wearing the traditional Kashmiri Pheran (long robe) of green colour, Sonia Gandhi flew to the forward areas of Poonch, 250 kms northwest of Jammu, to spend three hours with the tremor affected people and later flew to the forward area of Uri in north Kashmir where large-scale devastation had taken place in the 08 October earthquake.
