TANZANIA-POLITICS-ELECTIONS
Former Foreign Minister and presidential candidate for the ruling Revolutionary Party (CCM) Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete talks to press after casting his vote at a polling station in the Presidential elections 14 December, 2005 in Dar es salaam. Voters turned to the polls after the National Electral Commission (NEC), suspended the date for the elections from 31 October to 14 December, following the death of CHADEMA Presidential runing mate, Jumbe Rajab Jumbe which occurred on 28th October. Voters are choosing a new president, a 232-seat parliament and local officials in Tanzania-s third elections since political pluralism was introduced in 1992 that the CCM is heavily favored to win.
