ADDITION-POLAND-CORRUPTION-POLITICS-MEDIA-RYWIN
Lew Rywin, the former chairman of Canal Plus Poland, and co-producer of Roman Polanski's "The Pianist" sits in the dock during the first day of his trial in the building of district court in Warsaw 02 December 2003. Rywin is accused of having asked media group Agora for a 17-million-dollar bribe on behalf of Prime Minister Leszek Miler's party. In exchange, according to allegations, the parliament would change Poland's media ownership laws, which are being amended, in such a way as to allow Agora, publisher of the best-selling Polish daily Gazeta Wyborcza, to acquire the commercial television Polsat.
