Author Eric Dunbar looks through items in a destroyed house in the heavily damaged Lower Ninth Ward 27 December, 2005 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dunbar said he and his wife Doroth grew up in the ward and came back to find items his mother-in-law-s home but could not even find the house. After Hurricane Katrina flooded much of the city Dunbar said he was airlifted from a school in the Uptown area and now lives in Texas. He has written the book "Katrina: In the Aftermath of a Killer" about his experiences. Nearly four months after Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast, the worst-hit parts of New Orleans and surrounding areas are still uninhabitable.
