Syria confirmed that it had received a request from the UN probe into the murder of former Lebanese premier Rafiq Hariri to interview President Bashar al-Assad, a Syrian official said today. The UN probe into Hariri-s February murder in a Beirut bomb blast, which has already implicated a number of Lebanese and Syrian officials, said 02 January it had asked to interview Assad and Foreign Minister Faruq Shara.
