CHILE-PERU-FUJIMORI-EXTRADITION
(FILE) Former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori, accompanied by Chilean officials, is transferred 07 November, 2005 from the police station in Santiago where he had been kept under custody at Peru-s request. The Peruvian government formally lodged 03 January 2006 an extradition request with Chile for Fujimori, who has been detained here since early November, Chile-s foreign ministry Ignacio Walker said. The former president arrived unannounced in Santiago on November 7 from Japan, with plans to launch his campaign for Peru-s presidency. He was instead arrested at Peru-s request. Peruvian investigators have prepared a series of corruption and human rights charges against Fujimori stemming from his 1990-2000 presidency. AFP PHOTO/CLAUDIO POZO
