(FILES) French President FranA§ois Mitterrand (L) and German Chancellor Helmut Kohl (R) walk arm in arm during a Franco-German meeting in Chambord 28 March 1987. On the tenth anniversary of the death of former president Francois Mitterrand, a nostalgia-fest of commemorations, television programmes and political musings bears witness this week to France-s abiding fascination with this most complex of 20th century statesmen. High-point of the ceremonies will be 08 January 2006 -- ten years to the day since the Socialist party (PS) leader succumbed to cancer at the age of 79 -- when hundreds of party faithful will gather in his home-town of Jarnac, in western France, for a day of remembrance.
